IM Newbie is a new product released by Kevin Fahey, a well-known digital marketer for the past several years. With his latest outing, he's gone back to basics and put together a video course for internet marketing beginners who aren't yet earning a minimum of 1K per month. The training primarily covers list building and affiliate marketing as make money online methods.
Product: IM Newbie
Creators: Kevin Fahey
Type: Affiliate Marketing/List Building
Price: $10 + 4 Upsells
- Clear training and presentation
- Front-end product reasonably priced
- Free alternatives to expensive tools included (e.g., plugins, etc.)
- OTO's up the wazoo
- Front-end product not enough to make system work
- Training too advanced for newbies
The video training consists of 5 modules, each containing several short videos covering essential topics like:
- Domain and hosting
- WordPress installation and setup
- Squeeze page setup
- Social media pages/channel setup
- Creating blog posts and monetizing your blog
The training mentions several paid tools but many free alternatives are also offered, including a couple of plugins available for download.
IM Newbie takes you step-by-step through the process of setting up your internet marketing business through a series of 31 short videos (usually around 5-8 minutes in length) for a total of 3 hours of training. The video course covers basic information like choosing a domain name for your website and selecting a theme for your blog.
I was surprised to see some advanced training like how to work with the CPanel interface included with most web hosting packages and how to install a database for your website. Assuming you're brand new to this business, you can overlook this information.
Now, as a newcomer, it might be tempting to outsource the grunt work involved with setting up your first website but Kevin correctly advises against this especially if you've never done it before. To build a successful business online, you need to have at least some understanding of how all the parts work and that's why it's best to do all this stuff yourself at least the first time around.
Despite the hand-holding, I find a lot of the training too advanced for the average newcomer. Topics like split-testing, conversion tracking, facebook advertising, and autoresponder automation will likely be over the head of someone who's never so much as heard of WordPress before. And because of that, I fear the average buyer will give up before he/she ever gets started.
While profitable, there are easier ways to start earning your first $1000 per month that don't involve the type of advanced techniques mentioned above.
A link to Kevin's support desk is available inside the training and he's also set up a Facebook group for new members which currently has over 250 members.
At $10, IM Newbie is quite reasonably priced, especially considering the amount of training you get. But it's nowhere near enough information to get your online business going. And that's where all the OTO's come in (One Time Offers).
IM Newbie has four upsells and downsells, the first one selling you on Kevin’s VIP training which costs $27 per month. The others range from $37-$67. You didn’t really think you’d get a complete business in a box for a measly $10, did you? 😉
I normally don't have that big of a problem with OTO's as they're par for the course in this industry. But when you need to buy an OTO because the front-end product isn't enough, I get a bit peeved. I just wish product creators would be upfront about costs but that's the way the game is played. With IM Newbie, you'll likely need Kevin's coaching if you expect to get anywhere.
As a stand-alone product, IM Newbie offers a good introduction into the world of internet marketing but doesn't provide enough information to make a go of it. For that, you need to buy the VIP training, not to mention the other OTO's too. Furthermore, several strategies and techniques aren't beginner-friendly. While not a bad product by any means, I can't fully endorse it.
